Joan Jett Filing Lawsuit Over Unauthorized Runaways Tribute Album

joan jett and cherie currie filing lawsuit over tribute album

Kind of puts a damper on the whole "paying tribute" thing.

Joan Jett and bandmate Cherie Currie have filed a lawsuit against indie label Main Man Records, in an effort to stop them from releasing a Runaways tribute album without their permission.

According to Main Man Records' website, the album is a two-disc set, featuring covers of the band's songs by a variety of different artists.

The lawsuit says that Main Man used Joan and Cherie's names to promote the album without getting the proper permission first, and that an employee who used to work for Joan "used that connection to imply the project had her blessing."

Joan and Cherie are seeking "unspecified damages" in their lawsuit, but really they just don't want the album to be released.

Here's what their lawyer Oren J. Warshavsky had to say about it:

"This isn't about money. This is strictly about preserving reputation and quality that both Joan and Cherie are known for."

Guess we'll see how this plays out, but there's def something kind of gross about releasing a tribute album when the artists being honored are against the idea.

What do U think? Team Joan Jett or Team Main Man?

Courtney Love Getting Sued Over Twitter AGAIN!

courtney love in twitter lawsuit again

Here we go…

Last month, Courtney Love paid out $430,000 in a settlement for a Twitter-based defamation lawsuit with fashion designer Dawn Simorangkir.

Then, Courtney returned to Twitter and went back to her old, controversial ways, making some nasty digs against Chelsea Handler's beau Andre Balazs.

NOW, Courtney has gotten into Twitter trouble again for speaking out against former lawyer Rhonda Holmes from San Diego-based firm Gordon & Holmes.

The lawyer claims that Love libeled her over Twitter when she said that Holmes sold her out in a battle over money owed to Kurt Cobain's estate.

Here is the tweet that got Courtney into NEW trouble:

"I was f–king devastated when Rhonda J Holmes Esq of San Diego was bought off…"

Holmes is claiming that the remarks "have damaged her credibility and hurt her firm's business" and she's seeking unspecified damages.

Of course, Courtney has since canceled her Twitter account once again.

Let Courtney Love's tale of Twitter woe be a lesson to us all! Once it's out there on the Internet, you can't take it back.

What do U think about this lawsuit? Should Courtney pay up for her words tweet?

Howard Stern Vs. SiriusXM Radio

howard stern vs siriusxm radio

Looks like Howard Stern is NOT happy with SiriusXM right now.

Stern's prod company and manager are filing a lawsuit against SiriusXm Radio, which claims that Howard "was bilked out of stock awards SiriusXM promised him." They are seeking unspecified damages.

As mentioned in the lawsuit, Howard was promised a share "in any success that the company achieved," but Howard's team is claiming that he didn't receive further stock bonuses after Sirius acquired XM, and the 20 million subscribers who came along with it.

In the lawsuit, Team Howard wrote the following:

"Sirius needed Stern more than Stern needed Sirius."

Ha! We'd have to agree with that.

Hopefully they can work everything out. If we were SiriusXM, we wouldn't want to piss off Howard. If he were gone, we're sure that TONS of subscribers would leave along with him.

Who do U side with? Team Howard or Team SiriusXM?
