Former Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is planning on privately visiting those families who lost loved ones during the unspeakably horrific Sandy Hook Elementary shootings that took place on Dec 14th.

Gabrielle is no stranger to terrible gun-inflicted violence, as she survived a gunshot wound to the head when a man opened fire in a Tucson shopping center two years ago.

Ellen DeGeneres feels the same sadness and state of disbelief the rest of the nation is enduring following the loss of 26 innocent people by the hands of a terrorist

The talk show host was so moved that she has chosen to dedicate the first show taping after the catastrophe, airing this afternoon, to the victims.

As we all continue to wrap our heads around one of our nation's most horrifically unnecessary tragedies, we are left with the lingering question of "why?"

Why couldn't this be avoided? Why would Adam Lanza feel compelled to commit these horrible crimes against innocent children?

We're still miles away from answering those questions, but we're gaining of a better sense of how worried Adam's deceased mother Nancy Lanza was about her son's well-being.

Nancy reportedly told an unnamed bar acquaintance at a watering hole she frequented that she feared "losing" Adam and that "he was getting worse.

One bar patron revealed details from a conversation he allegedly had with Nancy about a year ago. He said:

After the increasingly tragic circumstances surrounding the suicide of Jacintha Saldanha - the nurse who took her own life after being the victim of a prank call regarding Kate Middleton's stay at the hospital at which she was employed - have continued to be uncovered, the woman's body has now arrived in India.

According to reports, the 46-year-old's remains are now in Mangalore in Karnataka, where she was raised, and Saldanha's husband Benedict Barboza and their daughter Lisha, 14, and son Junal, 16, will travel there to attend her funeral service, which is said be expecting as many as 5,000 attendees at Our Lady of Health Church in the town of Shirva.

Furthermore, the hospital in Mangalore at which she studied nursing is reportedly planning to create a memorial award in her honor.

We're glad to hear that her memory will live on through something so positive.

However, our heart, thoughts, and prayers still go out to this woman's husband, children, and loved ones at they still struggle to make sense of this horrific tragedy and come to terms with what must be irreversible grief.

The names of all 26 victims lost in the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, have now been officially released, and last night, Robbie Parker, whose six-year-old daughter, Emilie, was one of the young souls lost in the tragedy, bravely released a powerful, truly heart-crushing statement to the press paying tribute to his child.

However, what truly speaks to this man's humanity - in the purest sense of the word - here is that despite the real-life nightmare that he is currently enduring, he still manages to fight back the tears and reach out to all of the other suffering families attempting to pick up the pieces of their own shattered lives and offer them his support and condolences…including those related to suspected shooter Adam Lanza.

We sincerely hope that everyone out there struggling to make sense of this all while fighting outrage, despair, and looking to point the finger of blame can manage to dig past all of these justifiable emotions and learn from his example.

There is no argument from us that there are policies and laws in this country that simply MUST change to prevent these kinds of tragedies in the future, but we think that if we TRULY want to create a world where our children won't have to grow up fearing for their lives even in places that SHOULD be safe, like the classroom, we must look inside of ourselves and seriously reflect on what's REALLY important in life, and how we can put aside our differences with one another and work together to help everyone do the same.

As Robbie says, that's what his child would have wanted, and we owe it to her - and all of the other young souls taken from their loved ones Friday - to do just that.

As the country still struggles to understand and make sense of the monstrous, unspeakable Sandy Hook Elementary School school shooting that took the lives of 20 children and six adults in Newtown, Connecticut Friday morning, the father and extended family of suspected shooter, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, have broken their silence.

Peter Lanza said in a statement:

"Our family is grieving along with all those who have been affected by this enormous tragedy. No words can truly express how heartbroken we are. We are in a state of disbelief and trying to find whatever answers we can."

Meanwhile, the family of Nancy Lanza, who was also found killed at another location and divorced her husband in 2009, continued:

"The family of Nancy Lanza share the grief of a community and a nation as we struggle to comprehend the tremendous loss that we all share. Our hearts and prayers are with those who share in this loss. On behalf of Nancy’s mother and siblings we reach out to the community of Newtown and express our heartfelt sorrow for the incomprehensible and profound loss of innocence that has affected so many."

Both Peter and Adam's older brother, Ryan - who was originally misidentified as the man responsible - have both been questioned by the FBI but at this point, are not considered suspects.

While authorities have informed the public that their investigators have found "very good evidence … as to how, and more importantly, why, this occurred," no further details have been released.

However, according to Nancy Lanza's neighbor, Dan Holmes, the first victim was an avid gun collector who was not only proud to own and have weapons registered in her name, but in the months leading up to the tragic, pointless events of Friday, often brought her children to several firing ranges to teach them how to shoot.

Sadly, these were the weapons that ultimately took the lives of 26 individuals, all of whom have now been identified.

Take a moment and pray for their souls, as well as their friends, family, and loved ones still struggling to come to grips with the profound, unspeakable tragedy that will hang heavily in all our hearts for a long time to come…AFTER THE JUMP.
