Criminal Blake Edward Fitzgerald and his girlfriend Brittany Nicole Harper were involved in a shootout in the early hours Friday morning after leading police on a car chase.

Blake and Brittany apparently robbed a shoe store on Friday night and were spotted by witnesses, which sparked the pursuit.

The hunt came to an end after the couple drove to a residential neighborhood in Milton and had "nowhere to go."

Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said the criminals attempted to run inside one of the homes, but never made it due to a shootout that left Blake dead.

Sheriff Morgan stated that Blake did have a gun, but wouldn't confirm whether the 30-year-old Brittany was carrying a weapon.

Surprisingly though, during the standoff, Blake apparently used his own lady as a human shield!

The Sheriff described the incident saying:

Steven Avery's Twin Sons Speak Out About Making A Murderer For The First Time — Only One Of Them Thinks Their Father Is Innocent!

There's now even more support in Steven Avery's corner.

Making a Murderer is being talked about more than ever now that the man behind the craze has hired a new attorney in order to eventually get a retrial.

While most people who've watched the ten-part Netflix docu-series agree that Steve was wrongfully convicted — or at least was given an unfair trial on the chance that he did kill Teresa Halbach — the latest development in the case may actually be the most important to him.

That's because his twin sons Bill Avery and Steven Avery, Jr. just sat down for their first-ever interview about their father!

On top of speaking about their lives now that they're in the public eye and all the scrutiny that comes with it, Bill actually says he thinks his father is innocent!

Steve Jr., on the other hand, thinks that Steven and Brendan Dassey at least deserve another trial since the 2005 investigation was "shady", to say the least.

Make sure to catch the entire Crime Watch Daily interview February 8 in syndication.

Serial Season 1 Returning For Daily New Episodes To Cover Adnan Syed's Retrial!

Hae Min Lee's family might not be happy about this, but we sure bet fans will be!

Serial set the recent true crime craze into motion in Late 2014 when Sarah Koenig began examining the trial and conviction of Adnan Syed on her podcast, and it looks like she's not done with the story just yet.

That's because while Season Two of the hit series has been following the controversial story of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, This American Life will actually be returning to the original murder case now that Adnan has been granted a retrial!

The reboot will consist of (at least) three episodes featuring new evidence that could lead to the now-36-year-old's freedom.

Adnan was originally found guilty of premeditated murder back in 2000, but now a new witness named Asia Chapman claims to have been with him just 30 minutes before Hae was last seen and is coming forward to testify on his behalf.

Sarah and producer Dana Chivvis have already released the first episode of the miniseries on their website, which basically recounts the first day of the hearing in Baltimore Circuit Court on Wednesday.

Two more episodes have been teased, and if the case continues to offer new evidence, so will Serial.

Serial Subject Hae Min Lee's Family Speaks Out For The First Time — After The Misled Podcast Forced Them To 'Relive A Nightmare'!

We're not sure what reaction we were expecting, but this is much more emotional than we anticipated.

It's been 17 years since Hae Min Lee was murdered, and over a year since Serial's first season examining the case wrapped.

But the victim's family only just spoke publicly for the first time this week.

If you've heard of the popular This American Life podcast Serial, then you're probably aware that Adnan Syed is currently serving a life sentence in prison for strangling his girlfriend Hae back in 1999.

Well, similarly to the developments coming from Netflix's Making a Murderer, the doubts cast on the trial due to Sarah Koenig's investigation seem to be making a case for a retrial for Adnan… much to the dismay of Hae's family and friends.

In fact, at the hearing for the potential retrial in Baltimore Circuit Court on Wednesday, the family issued a statement to Deputy Maryland Attorney General Thiru Vignarajah, saying:
