DVDs And Blu-Rays Disappearing Into The Clouds?!

DVDs And Blu-Rays Disappearing Into The Cloud

Are you tired of having to sort through a library of DVDS and Blu-Rays that takes up more space than your entire iTunes library?

Have you thought about turning your entire collection digital?

Well, that's what Best Buy and Wal-Mart are trying to make happen- and right from the comfort of your own home!

Sure, some Wal-Marts have already begun to offer digital conversion in-store, but who wants to leave the house?

Why do they think we watch streaming in the first place? It means never having to put on pants!

Once you sign up, the stores' services will allow you to upload your films into your own digital cloud for a small fee- Best Buy is currently planning $2 for SD and $5 for HD.

That could get pricey depending on the size of your collection, but it might be worth it to be ahead of the game when your grandkids ask you, what's a DVD player?

Wal-Mart Goes High Tech

Facebook is doing what it can to stay ahead of Google Plus, so the social networking giant has decided to team up with Wal-Mart on a new business idea.

The partnership will create custom Facebook pages for Wal-Mart’s more than 3,500 stores.

The concept behind it all is to make shopping at one’s local Wal-Mart more personal by allowing customers to interact with their local store online as well as receive coupons, sales details, and special offers online.

Wal-Mart Is In Trouble In China For Selling Overpriced Pork

Walmart pork

Authorities in China's southwestern city of Chongqing are cracking down on Wal-Mart for selling crappy pork and labeling it as good pork!

The company allegedly fraudulently labeled ordinary pork as more-expensive organic pork and 12 stores have been closed as a result.

This isn't the first incident that raised eyebrows either.

Since 2006, the giant retail store chain has been punished 21 times by Chongqing city officials for violations including false advertising, mislabeling, and food safety!

In it's most recent incident, the stores must remain closed for 15 days while cooperating with the investigation.

This incident makes us wonder: If they're selling overpriced pork in China, are they selling it here too?

Wal-Mart To Start Selling Healthier Food

Wal-Mart To Start Selling Healthier Food

Wow! This is fabulous news!

Wal-Mart, the nation’s largest grocer, has promised to re-create thousands of its own products to make them healthier, as well as work with its suppliers to do the same. This move is in reaction to Michelle Obama’s campaign to combat childhood obesity.

The company plans to reduce sodium and added sugars in some items and reduce prices on produce and develop a logo for healthier items.

"No family should have to choose between food that is healthier for them and food they can afford," said Bill Simon, president and CEO of Wal-Mart's U.S. division.

Because Wal-Mart is such a huge power in the marketplace, they have the ability to set new trends and influence its distributors.

Awesome news! The first reason in a while to be happy about Wal-Mart!

Wal-Mart Asks Supreme Court To Block Gender Bias Lawsuit!

Not cool!

Wal-Mart is facing potentially the largest class action employment lawsuit EVER over gender bias claims and now it is asking the Supreme Court to get involved!

The lawsuit was filed in 2001 by 6 women who claimed that the company was paying male employees more than female employees as well as passing women over for promotions that ultimately went to men!

They are seeking billions in damages!

Wal-Mart's lawyers are fighting California court rulings that allow a large amount of plaintiffs since the lawsuit includes any female employee that worked at the company from 1998 on!

An appeals court in San Francisco recently upheld the class action status for the suit back in April voting 6 to 5 and deeming the suit manageable despite the number of plaintiffs. But Wal-Mart is still fighting this ruling.

A decision by the Supreme Court will likely not be made until next year and lawyers for the women affected are expected to file a reply brief asking the court not to take up their case and let the lower ruling stand.

You go, girls!
