They were and then they weren't, but now they definitely are.
Dave Grohl has just confirmed that yes, the Foo Fighters are taking a well-deserved break.
He hinted at the hiatus this summer during England's Reading Festival, but confirmed the news in front of American fans at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park last Saturday.
Before performing Learn To Fly during their last tour stop (above), Grohl grabbed the mic to say:

She's back on top!
After several weeks of staying on top of the UK album charts, Adele's album 21 was finally taken down a notch when the Foo Fighters' Wasting Light debuted at number one last week.
But it didn't take long for her to reclaim her crown as top UK artist.
The numbers are out and Adele will be back on top for a twelfth non-consecutive week. Selling over 2 million copies since January, it's the first album released in the first quarter of the year to reach that milestone.
Meanwhile, her debut album 19, which was released three years ago, remains in the top five.
She is unstoppable! We couldn't be more proud of her success. We are her biggest fans and love her so music so much. Glad to see the rest of the UK thinks so too!

She had one HELL of a run!
After achieving the "longest consecutive run at No. 1 for a studio album by a solo artist in British chart history" for her album 21, Adele's #1 spot on the U.K. album chart has finally been taken over by the Foo Fighters' new album Wasting Light.
Despite losing the top spot, Adele's still sitting comfortably at #2 with her album 21, and she's even got the #3 spot with her debut album 19.
We are SO impressed with how well Adele's been doing in both the U.K. and the U.S., and we would NOT be shocked if she makes her way in front of the Foo Fighters once again in the near future.
Do U think the Foo Fighters will maintain their position at #1 on the U.K. album chart? Or will Adele reclaim that spot? Or will someone else snag it next?

Nice! Lo-fi!
Check out the just-released music video for Foo Fighters' Rope, directed by frontman Dave Grohl and from their upcoming album Wasting Light (above)!
Apparently, this was shot entirely on VHS!
Grohl reveals:
“We shot the video … in a big soundstage in Los Angeles. And we had to build this cube out of fabric and wood for the band to play within, and it’s lit from outside.”
Ha! That's pretty cool!
We're feeling it!
