India Bans Captive Dolphin Shows

India has joined Costa Rica, Hungary and Chile as the fourth country to ban captive dolphin and orca shows.

They've enacted the ban because they claim the animals' high level of intelligence grants them status as "non-human persons."

That's ahmayzing! That means they get rights!

India’s Ministry of the Environment and Forests said in a statement:

Tim Gunn Fights For Beluga Whales!

Tim Gunn, a mentor to fashion designers on Project Runway, is not only a talented designer, he's a huge animal lover!!

Most recently, he's sent a letter via PETA to the organizers of a gay pride celebration in Atlanta.

He is asking that they move their party that kicks-off the event to a new venue, instead of the Georgia Aquarium.

Ted Danson Petitions President Obama To Save Whales And Dolphins

The Obama administration is considering using seismic air gun blasts to search for oil and gas under the ocean seabed.

The problem with this is that the blasts are 100,000 times louder than a jet engine and they'd occur every 10 seconds for months!!

There's a very good chance that 138,500 whales and dolphins will be injured and maybe even killed by these blasts.

Luckily, they have Ted Danson fighting for them. He said:

SeaWorld Fights To Keep Its Trainers Really Close To The Whales!

They say any type of publicity is good publicity, but we're not sure that applies to this story!

SeaWorld is fighting ridiculously hard to keep its trainers ridiculously close to killer whales.

They are currently in negotiations with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as the two try and decide on a settlement from a scary case from over three years ago!

South Korea Wants To Start Whaling For Research

South Korea has appealed to the International Whaling Commission to allow whaling for scientific research. The country wants to exploit a loophole in the 1986 commercial whaling ban that allows whaling for scientific purposes.

PETA Has Tofu Beef With Whale Training Barbie Doll

Barbie's got a new job…but unfortunately, it's not too fair to sea life, especially whales.

Mattel has partnered with SeaWorld to release a Barbie doll that is a whale trainer.

And this does not sit well with PETA.

PETA has sent a letter to Mattel, highlighting how abusive SeaWorld and whale training is to their animals.

In the letter to Mattel, PETA asks for a more realistic approach to the doll:

No More Whale Vomit In Perfume?! Scientists Find Ambergris Substitute In Trees!

Yay! Whales (and their stomachs) rejoice!

Scientists at the University of British Columbia have discovered a new concoction from fir trees and yeast that may replace ambergris in expensive perfumes.

In layman's terms, whale upchuck might disappear in your favorite scents!
