This is great news!
It's been a couple months, but Costa Rica finally got their Wildlife Conservation law, which bans hunting as a sport!!!
The deal received a stamp of approval on Monday after getting a unanimous vote. Now, anyone who tries to circumvent the act or tries to snatch up wild animals to keep as pets will be fined $3K and/or

This is so sad, but over the past five years around the Nouabale Ndoki National Park in the Republic of Congo, over 5,000 elephants have been killed!

Did Arnold Schwarzenegger have an affair with a lobster too? LOL!
This monster of a lobster was found by New England Lobster Co. in San Francisco. who decided it was too big and shocking to be someone's dinner.
This dude weighed in at 18 pounds and is estimated to be 75 years old!! Firm's bookkeeper, Jennifer Vargas decided eating the king of the lobsters wasn't right.
"This seemed like a [lousy] way to go. A lot of the customers were interested in him - the problem was they didn't have a pot big enough,"
explained Vargas.
Luckily her boss agreed. Now this old beast and his massive claws live in the New York Aquarium, run by the Wildlife Conservation Society.

Oh No!!
According to Scientific American, each year, an average of 2,280 metric tons of frog legs are imported into the United States alone (that's somewhere between 450 million and 1.1 billion frogs)!! Holyshiz.
In “Canapés to Extinction: The International Trade in Frogs' Legs and Its Ecological Impact,” a report (PDF) released July 26 by wildlife conservation groups Pro Wildlife, Defenders of Wildlife and the Animal Welfare Institute, billions of frogs are getting nabbed and sliced in order to appear on the plate each year.
But the international frog trade isn't just criticized for depleting natural frog populations. It also has a hand in spreading chytrid fungus, which is linked to the decline and disappearance of not only frogs, but also other amphibian species.
Save the Frogs, an organization based in Santa Cruz, claims that an estimated 62% of the bullfrogs entering California from frog farms in Asia are infected with the fungus.
EW!!

AMAZING!!
This is the first and only elephant with a prosthetic limb!
In 2007, orphaned baby elephant Chhouk was found wandering alone in the forests of Cambodia.
No one knows how Chhouk lost his foot, but they knew they had to help him! Now he's on his fourth prosthetic foot and living just like a regular elephant. So sweet!
Check out the vid to see this special little guy and his incredible fake foot.

Ian Somerhalder is AMAZING!
Back in March, we heard all about the Vampire Diaries star's foundation for animal rights, called the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF).
At the time he was speaking out against animal cruelty. Now he's fighting for wildlife conservation, and he's taken the battle all the way to congress (above).
We are beyond impressed with you, Ian! Keep up the great work and thanks for all the support!
