In Utah, thousands of birds are dead or injured after they apparently mistook a Wal-Mart parking lot, a football fields and highway as bodies of water.
Due to stormy conditions, wildlife experts believed the birds were confused and had trouble telling dark water from the asphalt.
The birds are called eared grebes
Volunteers had helped to rescue over 3,000 birds. Expert estimate around 1,500 birds died.
This is one of the largest downing of birds most of the wildlife experts in Utah have ever seen.
No humans were injured or property was damaged but it's still so sad when that many animals all die at once.
At least rescuers were able to save hundreds of them.
