Wizard Of Oz Munchkin Karl Slover Dies At 93

karl slover wizard of oz munchkin star

Aww, sad news for Oz!

Karl Slover, the lovable actor who played lead trumpeter, townsman, and soldier in the Wizard of Oz has passed away at 93.

He was one of the shortest in the film, 4'5, but he stood out with his great smile and warm Dorothy welcome.

John Fricke says it best:

Of the 124 little people, he's one of the handful who got to enjoy this latter-day fame, to have people know who he was and be able to pick him out of the crowd in the movie. He has genuine immortality.

Rest in peace, Karl! Tell the Wizard hi for us!!

Irina Shayk Channels Her Inner Dorothy

Irina Shayk Channels Her Inner Dorothy

Your not in Kansas St. Petersburg anymore!

Yesterday Russian supermodel Irina Shayk was spotted wearing a checkered dress ala "Dorothy" from The Wizard of OZ as she ran through a rain storm in NYC with her manager (and her little dog too)!

We haven't seen Irina with this dog before. Her other dog Labrador Caesare is a little too big to play the part of Toto. Perhaps she just rented this little bulldog to go with her outfit. JK!!

See more pics of Irina and "Toto" below!

Kunis Wants To Be Wicked

Mila Kunis Wants To Be A Witch

And we're all for it!!

The jaw dropping Mila Kunis has left the live action remake of Akira, and wants to star opposite the delicious James Franco in Sam Raimi's Oz, The Great And Powerful!

She'd be playing the role of a young Theodora, the Wicked Witch of the West!!

This is some of what the source had to say:

"After a recent meeting with Raimi and Wizard James Franco, all agreed that Kunis would be perfect for the part of Theodorah, the younger sister of Evanorah who goes on to become the Wicked Witch of the West and, of course, to cackle iconic lines like, “I’ll get you, my pretty … and your little dog, too!” With her involvement assured, we're told that Franco finally agreed to do the picture."

So fab!!

Mila, bb, great choice, and good luck! Tell James we'd love to have you guys over for a chat!!

Are U excited for Oz???

Robert Zemeckis To Direct Wizard Of Oz Remake Using The Original's Screenplay!

robert-zemeckis-approached-by-warner-brothers-to-remake-wizard-of-oz-using-original-films-script

What on Earth? Didn't the remake of Pyscho teach people anything??

Warner Brothers has reportedly approached director Robert Zemeckis to helm a live-action remake of The Wizard of Oz, using the ORIGINAL script from the 1939 version!

Although that film was produced by MGM, Warner Brothers acquired the rights to the screenplay after Ted Turner bought it. Warner Brothers than bought Turner's empire, which gave them the rights to the work!

Wow. We're happy to see Robert Zemeckis moving away from all of that creepy performance capture stuff, but this could be disastrous!

A lot of care must be taken if this actually goes into production!

Let's hope it ends up a nice tribute to the original, and not an embarrassing, unnecessary mess.

What do U think?? Should this Wizard of Oz remake happen??

Charlote Grace Prinze's First Time Trick Or Treating!

sarah-michelle-gellar-halloween-1.jpg

And she just looks ADORABLE!

The cuteness is hard to bare!

Yesterday, Sarah Michelle Gellar took her little lady out for her first Halloween trick or treating. Sporting a darling Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ costume, Charlotte Grace and her mommy took to the neighborhood to get some well deserved candy!

We would have given her the entire bow she's so precious!

And you look good too, Sarah! So good in fact, that if you had wanted to toss on an old Buffy outfit for the ocassion,we bet you'd still look amazing in it!

But even though Halloween is over, perhaps you still have the urge to slip into a little something more Slayer-ish?! Or maybe in a few months? hopefully not much longer than next year? (In case you're not getting it, we want her to do a Buffy movie, like NOW!)

Sam Raimi Is Going To Oz

A change of pace from Spider-Man, but maybe that's a good thing!
sam raimi to direct disney new adaptation of the wizard of oz

The man behind KiKi Drunst's worst acting to date, Sam Raimi, is now stepping behind the lens to helm Disney's new incarnation of The Wizard Of Oz.

The flick, which totes itself as a more focused look at the wonderful wizard, is still going through a rewrite and is still searching for a suitable actor to play the lead. We're hearing Robert Downey Jr. is the front runner for the studio, but the SMOKESHOW has turn the offer down several times before.

Maybe now with Sam directing he might reconsider. Who knows?!

All we want to know is when the hell Wicked, the musical MOVIE is hitting theaters??? Any news on that?

Cheno isn't getting any younger, you know!

The Phantom Of The Opera Becomes The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz!

awwenn430224.jpg

Andrew Lloyd Webber likes to keep things in the family!

Twenty four years ago, Michael Crawford gave life to the original production of The Phantom of The Opera as the iconic opera. Now, the man who gave Michael his biggest role to date is adding him to the roster of his newest production. Sources confirm that Andrew has casted Michael as the Wizard in his latest endevour, a new stage version of The Wizard of Oz.

Nice of him to spare you a spot on Love Never Dies, dontcha think?

Of the production and reunting with his long time collaboratore, Andrew said:

“We will be going a lot further than simply presenting the movie on stage. We have re-visited the original novel and re-conceived our Oz as a piece of new musical theatre using the wonderful Arlen/Harburg songs and adding a few new ones where there are gaps. I am really looking forward to bringing The Wizard of Oz to life on stage. I am delighted that Michael Crawford, a legend of musical theatre, will take on the role of the Wizard and can’t wait to work with him once more.”

Sorry, but didn't we do this already? Isn't this show already playing down at the Gershwin? Wicked, hello?!

Just saying…
