Church can be kind of boring…until Reese Witherspoon shows up!

Nah, she's didn't do anything crazy, but we just think it would be so much cooler to go to the same church as a celebrity of her stature! Ha!

Reese and her husband Jim Toth attended a worship service at their church in Santa Monica on Sunday morning.

Without any children in tow, they were photographed leaving the service in the parking lot. Reese casually texted on her cell phone with a coffee mug tucked under her arm, while Jim kept it cool with a pair of shades and his hands in his pockets.

We suspect that most girls in their early teens already think of David Beckham as Jesus, but an artist in the UK recently painted that image onto canvas.

The painting was so controversial that police showed up to the the Johnny Cotter Gallery where it was hanging, said they had received complaints that the painting was offensive, and told the artist, Artis M Cotter, to take it down.

Artis insists that the painting is not meant to offend Christians, but rather make people think about what the world “worships” in the 21st century.

Said Cotter:

“This is not an anti-Christian painting. The point of it is to question who we worship in the 21st century. Is it God or is it people like David Beckham or reality TV stars who get paid millions and are looked up to. I chose Beckham because he is a modern day icon and known the world over. I am commenting on the cult of modern day celebrity.”

“I have had complaints but they are outnumbered by the people who have admired it,” he added.
