Yahoo To Buy Tumblr For BIG Buck$!!

yahoo tumblr(1)

It's official!

Internet staple Yahoo has agreed to buy the ever-popular blogging site, Tumblr, for a whopping $1.1 billion!!

That price tag makes this major deal the LARGEST acquisition of a social media company in YEARS, overshadowing Facebook's $1 billion purchase of Instagram last year.

The purchase was made by Yahoo chief executive Marissa Mayer in an effort to make the fading company appeal to a younger crowd.

With over 108 million blogs, Tumblr will (hopefully) push Yahoo into the forefront of the social networking and smart phone revolution.

But don't worry guys! Your fave blogging site will not change TOO much.

In an open letter to loyal followers, Tumblr founder David Karp said:

James Hetfield of Metallica -- A Band Not Available on Spotify

You can have a seat now, Pandora!

Spotify and Yahoo formally announced a blessed union of aural bliss.

Soon, Yahoo's Media Network will begin integrating Spotify software into their website!

This is great news for those who love to chow down at their all-you-can-hear musical buffet because the conjoining could very well make Spotify the dominant streaming music provider!

Sweet!

Now we can finally stream The Beatles, Metallica, and AC/DC on Spotify, right?

RIGHT?

Sorry, on-demand audiophiles — Spotify’s vast catalogue still has a few major holes.

Thankfully, Justin Bieber's entire discography is still at our finger tips!

Google is just the latest company to throw their hat in the Hulu ring.

Along with Microsoft and Yahoo, Google has been added to the list of potential buyers interested in purchasing Hulu, which is currently co-owned by Disney, News Corp., NBC Universal and Providence Equity Partners.

If bidders go high enough, analysts say that Hulu could receive about $2 billion-$3 billion in the deal.

Whoa. That's some major dough. If Google takes over Hulu, we wonder how that will affect their deal with YouTube??

All Your Favorite Websites Are Getting Sued (Except Us, Thankfully)!

Did Google, YouTube, Apple, AOL, Ebay, Netflix, Facebook, Yahoo, and more violate a patent without permission??

That's what Interval Licensing LLC's Paul Allen says. He's claiming that Interval provided the initial research funding for Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, which basically "resulted in Google." He also says that all the above websites used his Internet browsing technology, a patent in which he owns, between the years 2000 and 2004 and is now suing them, asking for unspecified damages, as well as an injunction that would prevent the websites from using his search engine technology or "a royalty for post-judgment infringement."

Crazy!!

Could this mean a huge change is coming in the way we use the Internet??

Inneresting.
