We are so proud of PJ’s Pets! The nationwide Canadian chain has joined the new generation of responsible pet stores by deliberately ending their sell of puppies.
This week PJ's announced their stores will facilitate adoptions of pets in need of homes instead of selling puppies most likely from puppy mills.
Costumers might still be able find their next pet at the store. The chain is allowing rescue organizations to set up tables to hand out leaflets, show photos of the dogs and take adoption applications. Some stores will also have kennels with shelter dogs available for adoption. How great is that??
Michael O’Sullivan, the CEO of the Humane Society of Canada couldn't me more pleased with the company's decision. He said:
“I think it puts the responsibility where it belongs and it’s wonderful for the animals,”
Their new policy goes into effect Semptember 1, 2011.

An incredible horse that suffered burns over two-thirds of her body in a barn fire in eastern Pennsylvania (poor thing!) has largely recovered.
Now the animal's owner hopes 'Suki' can become a therapy animal for human burn victims.
The horse hopes to work at a summer camps and hospital for burn victims.
Suki's owner is currently working on a children's book biased on Suki's life. Of corse.

21st century rule: if your name is Precious, you gotta be tough.
A girl , named Precious, made medical history last week by serving rabies a 2% chance of survival.
This cute little gir rabies from a scratch from a cat that scratched her during recess.
She is the third person in US history to defeat rabies without a vaccine.

This is why you never let your livestock watch Sex and the City!
After a truck hauling a number of cows flipped over on the highway, the cows took the only chance they had to make a life in the big city.
One ran about a mile into the Brazilian town. It broke through the back door of a dress shop and ended up standing behind the shop window (probs to show off).
The salesman in the shop ran and hid in the bathroom at the start of the commotion.
After about an hour, five cowboys arrived to get the cow out of the shop.
The cow broke through the shop window and the chase was on.
It was roped and the salesman was able to come out of the bathroom.
Two other cows that survived the crash had already been rounded up. We're guessing they were trying to get into a trendy bar.

This year the race was better than the hats!
The faces of horse racing fans were in complete shock (under their fabulous head pieces) when a horse named Animal Kingdom won $2.2 million at the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
A record crowd of almost 165,000 let out a mighty roar as John Velazquez, who only got the ride when his own horse was scratched and Animal Kingdom's original jockey was injured in a freak accident, surged into the lead approaching the shadows of the iconic twin spires.
Riding high on emotion after a bizarre chain of events led him to Animal Kingdom's saddle, Velazquez kicked clear to win his first Kentucky Derby at his 13th attempt.
Animal Kingdom, a longshot who started at odds of 20-1, was untroubled in his run to the wire, taking out the first leg of American racing's Triple Crown by 2 3/4 lengths.
The 5-1 favorite, Dialed In, could only manage eighth after being last in the 19-horse field for most of the mile and a quarter trip.

Good for her!
A tiger that would rather play than mate is taking her heart to San Francisco.
Shasta, a 10-year-old Siberian tiger at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo for the last seven years, is moving in June to the San Francisco Zoo to be a display animal.
The Omaha zoo has an internationally recognized big-cat breeding and genetics program but it didn't work for Shasta, said Dan Cassidy, the zoo's general curator.
The 295-pound Shasta rejected all attempts by male tigers at romance. She never had a litter.
"She'd want to play when he would want to breed," Cassidy said. "Things didn't work out."
Yeah, wonder why….
