Oklahoma thinks it is a good idea.
There is a shortage in one of the drugs that's part of the lethal injection, therefore Oklahoma is fighting to be able to use a drug that is used to put down animals.
Pentobarbital is a drug that is used in animal euthanasia, and according to Oklahoma officials it is "substantially" similar to thiopental sodium, which is used in the lethal injection.
The sole manufacturer of thiopental is running low, and the earliest the doses will be available are January 2011. Thiopental does not actually kill inmates, however it works as an anesthetic.
Attorneys of inmates on death row have said that using pentobarbital, the animal drug, takes longer to take effect than sodium thiopental and inmates could not be "fully anesthetized" at the time the other drugs are given.
Hmmm…what do U think??
