This must have been one unforgettable vacation for the passengers of a Carnival cruise ship that rescued three men from a disabled houseboat, but maybe even more unforgettable for Smug, the cat who was along for the ride.
Welsey DeMott, the owner and captain of the boat, was on route with two buddies and Smug from Florida to meet their wives in Mexico for a vacation, but unfortunately, rough winds caused a rope towing a dingy to snap and wrap around their rudder, leaving them stranded.
Luckily, a Carnival cruise ship passed by the nearly capsized boat, which according to DeMott "was starting to fall apart at least on the inside."
Even though DeMott's only home, holding all of his and his wife's belongings, had to be abandoned, he stares off into the ocean that nearly swallowed him alive while holding his feline friend Smug, both with a second chance.
We feel terrible for this guy, but at least he still has everything he really needs in life. His health, his wife, and his cat.
