In Yellville, Arkansas they hold their annual Turkey Trot Festival.
During the festival, they throw wild turkeys from private planes going about 70mph and 1000 feet up.
Turkeys only fly very short distances, rarely reaching 100ft.
Most turkey, disoriented from being flung out of an airplane, fall straight to the ground and smash into buildings and cars.
City officials say that they don't endorse the turkey drop yet it hasn't been stopped.
PETA has found that the turkey drop violates:
"Arkansas law (§5-62-103), which states that 'a person commits the offense of cruelty to animals if he or she knowingly subjects any animal to cruel mistreatment.'"
So PETA is offering a reward up to $5,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone directly involved in the turkey drop.
