It's sad that it took the massacre of 50 of the 56 animals that escaped in Ohio for the Governor to take a look at the animal laws.
Governor John Kasich is going to sign an executive order to push for tighter regulations on exotic animal ownership.
"Fortunately, today, I'm able to sign an executive order that will have teeth, that is founded in the law, and gives power to people."
It's good that he's taking action but it may be too little too late with endangered species among those who were shot.
The police are justifying their actions because they found it unacceptable to risk having even a single person.
The main problem is tranquilizers don't take effect immediately.
A wildlife vet said:
"There is a rush of adrenalin after an animal is shot then it needs to calm down until the drug kicks in, that could take at least 10 minutes, and the amount of havoc that it can do in that time is unimaginable."
Let's hope these new laws make sure something like this never happens again.
