New York state's Cemetery Board has made it legal for humans to have their ashes buried in pet cemeteries alongside their passed-away pets.
A woman from the Bronx, who wants to buried with her dogs and cats, said:
"I feel great. It was sort of like an early Christmas present.
It's just unfortunate that so many people had to go through this emotional torture these many months while this was being worked out."
Originally, even though over 700 people had been buried near their pets at the Hartsdale Pet Cemetery, the Cemetery Board had ruled human remains could not be buried in pet cemeteries.
The Board reversed their decision and made it legal as long as the service isn't advertised and there is no charge for it.
Kind of weird but we can totally understand wanting to be buried next to your loved ones.
