On a recent flight, in first class, Al Roker refused to swap seats with Stine Schyberg, the wife of Van Halen's Alex Van Halen so the couple could sit together.
He refused to switch seats because that would have brought him one seat closer to a small dog in a crate that was a row behind and three seats over.
Because he said he's allergic to dogs.
Now it seems some are questioning the truth of that statement.
This is due to the fact that he pitched an idea for a dog reality show back in 2005.
The pitch for the show read:
"A former Israeli intelligence officer, Tamar, will show us how to make the most of our loving relationship with dogs. And if you do not watch . . . she knows 17 different ways to kill you with a paper clip."
So would an allergic man pitch a show about dogs?
Yes, according to an NBC rep:
"Al produced a show about the DEA, but he didn’t go out on drug busts. And he produced a show about the Coast Guard, but he didn’t fly a chopper. One has nothing to do with the other."
We think people may be reading too much into this one.
