Zina Bethune was a ballerina, actor, teacher and compassionate human being.

She was helping a opossum who had been hit by a car in the middle of the street when she was hit by two cars and killed.

So sad!

In recognition of her kindness and compassion, PETA has honored her with a Compassionate Action Award.

She was a PETA member for many years and started Infinite Dreams, a nonprofit organization that teaches dance to children with disabilities.

PETA's president said:

"Zina dedicated her life to helping those in need.

The death of such a caring soul is a loss to her family, her friends, and the whole community. We hope that her compassion and courage will inspire others to help animals in distress."

The award will be presented to her husband.

We can only hope it's a condolence in this awful time.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to her entire family and all her friends.
