Thai officials have raided the Wildlife Foundation Thailand, an animal sanctuary for abused animals and animals taken out of the illegal pet trade.
The raids have included imprisoning members of the organization and "confiscating" animals on false charges.
It is believed the raid is in response to whistleblowing regarding the killing of elehpants in several national parks and how they were possibly linked to two high ranking officials.
"[…] valuable work to protect and preserve the wildlife of Thailand. It also serves to educate the Thai public and the international community about the importance of protecting wildlife such as elephants, primates, bears, and tigers, as well as small mammals and reptiles."
This is a classic example of a stifling of the public's freedom of speech so the more media attention it gets, the less likely it will be to happen in the future hopefully.
