Cats, dolphins and hyenas will never get the chance to enjoy the sweet taste of a Sprinkles cupcake!
A study showed that purely carnivorous animals lack a "sweet tooth" or an appeal for sweets. The reason behind the lack of sweet teeth is due to a genetic mutation of a strictly meat diet.
Meat only carnivores, such as lions and tigers
and bears (Oh My!), had mutations where they could no longer taste sweet foods. So, no point in liking sweets if they can't taste them, right?
Water based mammals such as dolphins and sea lions also lack sweet teeth.
But, spectacled bears, raccoons, and red wolves were found to have an affinity for sweets, with bears and raccoons eating anything they can find!
So, at least you can share your cupcake with a bear! HA!
