AWWWWWW!! Simply adorbs!
Howletts Wild Animal Park based out of Canterbury, England have welcomed a new member to their family of Grizzled Leaf Monkeys.
The baby, named Asmara, is the twentieth baby to join the Howlett’s Grizzly Leaf Monkeys, the only GLMs under human care outside of their native Javan habitat.
Head primate keeper Matt Ford has said:
"We are delighted with this new arrival; Mum and baby are doing very well. This new birth provides hope for the survival of these endangered primates in captivity."
GLM are rainforest dwellers thus their wild habitat has been decimated over the past 20 or so years.
"Deforestation has resulted in habitat loss for the Grizzled Leaf Monkey – only 4% of their original forest habitat remains on the island of Java."
Eventually, their goal is to get the GLM’s back into protected parts of the the Javan rainforest so they can live and breed in peace.
NO MORE DEFORESTATION PLEASE!!!
Not only is it effing up the animal kingdom, its effing up the EARTH kingdom as well!
