Dr. Patrick Mahaney brought to our attention what a reader brought to his attention.
It's a sad story but a message that should be spread.
Buddy then dragged himself over a mile to a nearby road where he was picked up.
He was taken to a vet where he seemed to be doing well, even though he had over 50 shotgun pellets removed from his body!
Sadly, his heart gave out during surgery. He had lost almost half of his blood and as a result his heart couldn't handle the extra work it took to try and stay alive.
Dr. Mahaney responded to the reader who sent the story:
"Thank you for sharing Buddy's story.
Even though it is hard to read about such things happening, it is important that we raise general awareness of animal cruelty.
I feel for Buddy's owners and all of the veterinarians and support staff that strove to aid his recovery.
I shared the story on my Facebook page and Tweeted it.
