And this is one BIG baby!
The Cango Wildlife Ranch welcomed a 5.1kg pygmy hippo named Harry to the world.
In the States, that's over 11 pounds!
This is exciting news as the pygmy hippopotamus is critically endangered and they dwell mostly in West Africa, specifically Liberia. To have one born in South Africa is a real treat!
Harry is named after Prince Harry of Wales, due to the royal's interest in Africa and its wildlife. Unfortunately, Harry's momma isn't as graceful as the Queen!
The observors and staff monitored Harry and his mom, Hilda, for five hours. However, Hilda would not feed her son so they had to take him away from her.
Luckily, baby Harry is doing well and he'll grow into a BIG strong man…hippo. HA!
