Owning a dog, cat, rabbit, or hamster can up your coolness factor, but it can also help your body too!

Researchers across the country have found that those who have a furry companion tend to enjoy healthier lives then those who don't.

The benefits of owning a pet can be numerous, including less illness, faster recovery from sickness, and a higher content for life.

Here are a few benefits of owning a faithful companion:

Less Lonely:

Owning a pet can be the best friend you always needed! A survey has shown that nearly half of pet owners consider their pets companions, while only two percent think of them as property.

With a companion, owners are less likely to feel alone.

Better Compatibility with Humans:

While you may want to love and hog your pet all by yourself, companions increase compatibility with other humans.

Researchers from Central Michigan University found those working in a team with a dog present were more likely to trust each other and work better as a team. An informal study by writer Allen Sarkin found that women were more likely to approach a dog owner (male) and pet their pooches.

So pets can help with the single life too!

Other benefits of owning companions include less blood pressure problems and fewer allergies for children exposed to pets at an early age.
