And no, we don't mean mail order brides! We're talking about chickens!
Many families are deciding to raise chickens backyard style and instead of visiting farms, they order them from the internet.
Unfortunately, many of these adorable baby chicks are turning into salmonella carrying adults.
It's not good for the kiddies.
Salmonella, bacteria that causes severe diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, can be found on the beaks, feet, and feathers of the chicks, as well as in their feces.
While baby chicks may be good Easter gifts, New Mexico has found that many have lead to sickness in children.
The Center of Disease Control claims that children under five shouldn't be allowed to handle chickens at all. One single mail order hatchery has had over 300 cases of salmonella since 2004.
Our question: why are still ordering from this place?!?!!?!
