Secretariat is one of the greatest race horses of all time and his legacy may become even greater!
A Triple Crown winner, Secretariat set racing records that still stand at the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes.
But his Preakness time has always been a hot bed of controversy.
On the 1973 race day, the electronic clock record the horse's finishing time at 1 minute 55 seconds.
But, the hand clockers recorded Secretariat's time at 1 minute 53.4 seconds…
Officials admitted there were some snafus and Sec's time was changed to 1 minute 54.4 seconds.
If Secretariat's time was in fact 1:53.4, then they would have another record that still stands today.
Sec's owner, Penny Chenery, and Thomas Chuckas, the president of the Maryland Jockey Club, made the request to have Sec's time reviewed.
The Maryland Racing Commission will hold a hearing to go over the evidence.
We could be staring at another piece of history!
