Not only did Secretariat's team get the verdict the wanted, they got an even FASTER time!
As reported earlier, Sec's owner, 90 year old Penny Chenery, and Pimlico Stakes president Tom Chuckas petitioned the Maryland Racing Commission to overturn Sec's racing time for 1:55 (recorded by the electronic timer) to 1:53.4, a time recorded by independent hand clockers.
Using two hours worth of testimony, which included modern technology, the commission UNANIMOUSLY voted 7-0 to push Secretariat's time to 1 minute 53 seconds flat.
This means that not only is Secretariat a Triple Crown winner, he's the fastest horse ever in ALL THREE events!
Congrats to Secretariat and his team!
