Star the pit bull is an EXTREMELY loyal pooch who tried to protect her owner after he was found unconscious by police officers.
But one officer didn't think appreciate Star's loyalty…and he shot the pooch point blank.
Fortunately, this little toughie SURVIVED after operations to remove a damaged eye and pieces of medal in her school, she's STILL FIGHTING!!!!

NYC Animal Control says Star is recovering from her ordeal but she's not ready for a new home yet.
The original owner, Lech Stankiewicz, never claimed the pooch, so Star will need an owner who can understand her ordeal.
