Dog Recovering After Giant Tree Killed Owner During Hurricane Sandy

A dog is fighting for his life after Hurricane Sandy killed his owner and her friend.

Max the dog has been taken off the critical list at Verg South veterinary hospital after a giant tree fell on his owner, Jessie Streich-Kest, her friend Jacob Vogelman, and him.

Streich-Kest and Vogelman were killed while Max needs more surgeries, but he is on the mend.

Max was adopted by Streich-Kest from a local Brooklyn shelter and the two friends were "inseparable."

After he is released, Max will live with Streich-Kest parents.

Sad….so many people have been affected by this superstorm. We hope Max continues to improve.
