The Muppets may not be getting the best reviews for their ABC show, but they're certainly still trying to stay fresh with their commercials!
Ch-ch-check it out (above) and tell us what YOU think!
Even though they are the kings of the
savannah jungle, the lion is suffering from human development like every other species.
Between 1950 and 2010, sub-Saharan African's population grew from 229 million to 863 million.
That's nearly double ALL of North America!
Lions have all but disappeared from West Africa while the genetically unique leos in Central Africa need heavy conservation efforts to keep them from going extinct.
A report in the Biodiversity and Conservation journal says the following:
Lion numbers have declined precipitously in the last century. Given that many now live in small, isolated populations, this trend will continue.
The situation in West Africa is particularly dire, with no large population remaining and lions now absent from many of the region’s national parks. Central Africa is different in that it has a very large contiguous lion area centred in the Central Africa Republic.
In view of reported declines, it still does not qualify as a stronghold. Populations in these regions are genetically distinct. Keeping these populations from extinction will require conservation efforts well beyond the dismal performance of the region’s other protected areas.
Sad….we need to continue fighting to help all animals around the world!
