Two pooches were recently jacked, thrown out of a car and injured, and weirdly enough, all this happened because of an animal rescue worker!
Debbie Swenerton was arrested last month for stealing two pit bulls from a rural community east of Albuquerque, and she is now being considered a "serial dognapper."
But according to Swenerton's friend, Barbara Tellier, she's apparently "one of the most humane people [she] know[s]," adding:
"Debbie is making waves. She is emailing everybody trying to get help for these animals who are locked outside without enough shelter, or not enough water in the summertime, or running loose to get hit by a car… and nobody is doing anything."
Now, with at least 60 dogs that have gone missing in the same vicinity over the last few years, a lot of residents fear that their pets may end up disappearing.
However, Torrance County Undersheriff Martin Rivera said Debbie was bummed because "she felt she was doing the right thing" and "just wanted to save [the] animals."
Welp, considering that the two pit bulls she swiped were tied up in a front yard, maybe the dognapper was just trying to save 'em. But if she did indeed throw them out of a moving car, then they were better off staying home.
Either way, there's really NO reason why anyone should be abducting dogs to then only send them off to shelters to be adopted!!
