This is NOT gonna be pretty!
A HUGE pharmaceutical company named AstraZeneca is planning on moving beagles from Sweden to the UK to test for new medicines… but animal rights activists are NOT gonna let that happen!!
The move is supposedly going to be clean and easy, but just knowing that a whole mess of doggies are gonna be shipped off just to be tested on doesn't sit well with the animal lovers.
In hopes to smooth things over, an AstraZeneca spokeswoman said:
"The team has concluded that, because these dogs have been purpose-bred for research and they are needed to support our global research efforts, the best solution is to continue to utilize them for research at AstraZeneca facilities and by third parties acting on our behalf. Animal studies are a vital part of the research process and are also required by regulators before they will approve a new medicine to be tested in humans. Fewer than 2% of the animals it uses are dogs. The movement of these animals is fully compliant with all applicable laws and will be done with the utmost care and professionalism."
Members from animal activist groups Gateway to Hell and Brown Dog are campaigning for the bow wows, and will take part in checking bags and suitcases at the airport if they think beagles are on a flight.
About 300 dogs are believed to be part of this action, but don't be surprised if the pooches don't make a move.
After all, messing with animal activists is NOT something anyone wants to do… unless you want non-violent trouble! LOLz
