Take a good look, because it's 100% real!
But it packs a big bite!

Doesn't make sense?!?!?! Well let us (by us we mean scientists) explain!
Scientists once estimated that over 100 million species of plants and animals roam the earth. With a number that high, many believed that there was no way to discover and name all of them before some went extinct.
Not so fast!
Recently, researchers have found that this may not be the case. With the increase in taxonomists, it is possible to name all of the world's unknown species?!?!
If a species is named, this helps conservation efforts by giving formal recognitions to its existence.
Dr. Mark Costello of the University of Auckland explains:
We believe that with just a modest increase in effort in taxonomy and conservation, most species could be discovered and protected from extinction. We've discovered three times more people now naming species than there were ever before. We're in the golden age of taxonomy," added Dr Costello.
Overestimates of the number of species on Earth are self-defeating because they can make attempts to discover and conserve biodiversity appear to be hopeless.
It's more important to fight extinction than to describe or catalogue all species. We can protect species even if we don't know all of them. I have no doubt we can catalogue all of life, and it would be useful, but we don't have the luxury of time.
So…it's a race against time….can scientists help save the most exotic and rare creatures of Earth.
We bet they can!
