Animal testing in the cosmetics industry has been going on for many many years, but after the European Union got fed up with our furry friends being the guinea pigs (no pun intended), they took it upon themselves to BAN the sale of cosmetics and ingredients that are tested on animals.
The boycott is set to go down in March, and the Cruelty Free International Chief Executive, Michelle Thew said:
"This is truly an historic event and the culmination of over 20 years of campaigning. Now we will apply our determination and vision on a global stage to ensure that the rest of the world follows this lead."
What makes this movement cool is the fact that Americans will not be able to sell any products that have been tested on animals in Europe, which in turn means that in order to get sales overseas, they're gonna have to change up how they run their business.
Hopefully the ban makes a HUGE statement because there's no reason why animals should suffer on account of beauty products.
If you ask us, that's just an UGLY and cruel way to sell cosmetics!
