Cali Sushi Chefs BUSTED For Serving Whale Meat!!!!

EEWWWWW….why can't they leave our food alone!!!
El Lay chefs Kiyoshiro Yamamoto and Susumu Ueda could be headed to jail for a loooooooong time after they were caught serving Sei whale meat to customers.
Sei whales are protected in the States by the Marine Mammal Protection Act, so serving whale meat in the City of Angels is a BIG no-no.
The fiasco came to light when patrons brought the meals to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The Santa Monica restaurant is now shuttered up and closed.
This is definitely a GOOD thing!
Turns out, the whale meat was a secret menu item, with the packages of forbidden meat intentionally mislabeled as "fatty tuna."
Documents from the U.S. Department of Justice state Yamamoto and Ueda snagged the meat from a Japanese national, Ginichi Ohira.
Unfortunately, eating whales (and killing them) is legal in Japan.
If convicted, Yamamoto faces 67 years in the pen, while Ueda could get 10 years.
Yuck….why use whale meat??? Sushi is good enough without it!!!!!

Is whale meat supposed to be disturbing? zzzzzzzz
Doesn't sound like it would be very tasty, maybe kind of chewy?
PS - Please stop using Cali, that is a city in Colombia, using it to describe the state of California does not make you look cool at all and I say this as a third generation native. TY.
Re: Tifa – The men allegedly sold meat from Sei whales, which are endangered and protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
Tifa what rock do you live under? Most whales are endagered yet other countries don;t care and continue to hunt and kill these precious creatures. Educate yourself before you make such a ridic comment. Goggle the way these animals are killed its horrific! Japan/China and Korea are going to be the death of our oceans
There are things that Americans eat that other countries find repulsive but Americans aren't doing anything to cater to that. Why should the Japanese? I understand that it is illegal to serve it in the States and they should be punished for that, but don't mock other cultures for their way of life.
I understand that it was wrong for them to serve it because it's illegal in the United States, but whale meat is a normal thing in Japan. Therefore I find your "ewww" and "yuck" comments completely disrespectful to Japanese culture.
Re: twinkster – Why? The Sei whales are ENDANGERED. If the populations aren't managed and repopulated, if the Japanese continue to desecrate them, THERE WILL BE NO MORE. EVER. With intelligent management, they can be brought back, and then some hunting can happen seasonally with limits.
Re: twinkster – It has nothing to do with 'mocking' and everything to do with being senseless.
