A superintendant from the Bronx named Raul Sanchez was arrested last year after the NYPD found 50 dogs in his building's basement that were obviously being used in a dog fighting ring.
Sanchez has just been sentenced to FIVE long years in jail after he pleaded guilty to dog fighting. His specific sentences were one to three years for animal fighting, one year for animal cruelty and one year for criminal possession of a weapon. He will serve all sentences concurrently.
He will also not be allowed to own an animal during the remainder of his parole - a VERY just punishment in our eyes.
Sanchez did not appeal any of the sentences he received.
We hope this serves as a reminder to all people who abuse dogs by making them fight that if they're caught - they will be spending a large chunk of life behind bars.
Which is where they absolutely belong!
