It's Alive! Puppy Born From Frozen Embryo Offers Hope For Endangered Wildlife

The woof heard around the world!!

A Labrador-beagle mix named Klondike could hold the secret on how to preserve endangered species of foxes or wolves.

The reason?

Klondike is the first canid puppy born from a frozen embryo! The canid species includes animals such as foxes and wolves.

In this study, researches artificially inseminated a beagle using Labrador sperm. Afterwards, the embryos were frozen and implanted into another beagle.

And exactly nine months ago Klondike was born! A monumental moment as it was the first puppy born from a frozen embryo in the entire Western Hemisphere!!

This technique may be able to help repopulate other canid endangered species such as the red tail fox.

One scientist said:

"We're working to understand these differences so we can tackle issues ranging from developing contraceptives to preserving the genetic diversity of endangered animals through assisted reproduction."

We're sure at least the foxes will be able to make such a scientific process work. They don't call foxes sly for nothing!!

This photo can't be of the puppy in the article. Colour genetics of dogs would preclude it being the parti-colour pattern of a beagle. It should be nearly a solid black.
