One of the more disgusting consequences of Hurricane Sandy hitting New York is an increase in rats!
After the hurricane hit and all that flooding happened, tons of rats moved inland.
A councilwoman said:
"As New Yorkers, we have a certain level of tolerance for rats. But this is a real public health issue, and people are rightly concerned."
It's apparently gotten so bad that businesses have had to shut down due to health risks because they're so heavily infested.
Even neighborhood residents have had to leave their homes and stay in hotels until their ridiculous rat problem was taken care of.
We don't like to think about them baiting and killing animals but too many rats could start causing some serious health issues!
A new rat eradication program is most likely going to be put into place soon, at no extra cost to the tax payers, so that's good at least.
