Award Winning Dog's Death Leaves Handler Suspicious

Where's Sherlock Holmes when you need him?
Cruz was a beautiful dog who was preparing for the Westminster Dog Show.
One night the handler and the dog chowed down on a delicious steak. Six days later, Cruz was dead at the age of three-years-old.
A necropsy was performed but the cause of death remains unclear. The handler though is suspicious of foul play!
Here's what the handler said:
“Unfortunately, dog shows have been plagued by some of these people for years. I’ve heard horror stories about other people’s dogs having their setups tampered with, being poisoned, but I never thought it would come to me.”
But who would want to poison a dog?
The dog's owner has hinted it may have been an animal rights activist group, such as PETA, but the organization has strongly denied this charge.
The founder said:
“PETA does not sanction that. It’s so scurrilous; it’s so low to even suggest it.”
If someone actually did such a atrocious act against this helpless dog - that person should be ashamed of themselves, and we seriously hope they are discovered soon.
Justice should be served against a dog killer - no doubt!
