Victory, a 1-year-old Chihuahua, was born with deformed front legs.
Since her front legs are only half the size of a normal dogs', she has to kind of hop around, and that's where her nickname came from: Kangaroo!
She was found on the streets of Dearborn, Michigan and was taken to Dearborn Animal Shelter where no one claimed her.
So her only chance at being adopted and living a normal life were those three orthopedic devices, but they came with a hefty price tag: $2,000!!
After a newsletter was printed telling her story, the donations poured in… $7,000 in total!
The director of the shelter said:
"We thought that she needed a name that really described how she looked at life and the fact that she survived when many animals with deformities don't. She has such a wonderful personality and spirit that we felt she's been victorious over what could be barriers that stand in the way."
So Victory sounds like the perfect name!
Soon she'll go from being the Kangaroo dog to being the happy Victory dog with a new home!
We love happy endings!!
