This is so awfullll!
We previously mentioned that Dianna Hanson, 24, was killed by a lion at Project Survival's Cat Haven sanctuary in Dunlap, California.
Now we know more about what actually happened to her.
The authorities believe that the lion opened its cage with its paw and attacked the woman as she was cleaning its holding area.
The corner who examined her and spoke with investigators said:
"The lion had been fed, the young woman was cleaning the large enclosure, and the lion was in the small cage. The gate of the cage was partially open, which allowed the lion called Cous Cous to lift it up with his paw. He ran at the young lady."
The coroner then said that the lion broke her neck, probably with just one swipe of its paw.
She would've died instantly.
Though this whole situation is awful, at least she was already gone when the lion began tossing her body around.
All bites and scratches were inflicted after she was already dead.
Still, its so so sad that she was killed.
We hope the sanctuary changes its policies so that nothing like this can ever happen again.
