Miley Cyrus Called Out By NYC Horse Carriage Operators!!

Miley Cyrus

We previously mentioned that Miley Cyrus and her mama Tish were doing some tweeting to help out NYC carriage horses.

Lots of people were so glad to see her showing so much concern for NYC's horses.

Though not everyone was happy… like the Carriage Operators of North America (CONA)!!

Tommy Doyle, who is on the Board of Directors for CONA, defended his industry, saying there is no horse abuse and then asked:

"How many times has Miley spent with working horses? Does she even know what a healthy horse looks like? Has she been in the barn to see these animals?"

He said that Miley has a standing invitation to come visit his business anytime and see for herself that his horses are healthy.

Even though they're forced to work long hours, in close proximity with cars and exhaust and things like that.

We still think Miley did the right thing.

Just because her family has a barn and horses does not mean she knows anything about these particular horses.

As for being in close proximity to cars, there have been three carriage horses that have died as a result of collisions with traffic in the past 30 (that’s THIRTY) years: Chester (1985), Tony (1990) and Spotty (2006).
In addition, the horses do not suffer from respiratory problems. The stables are very well-ventilated and contrary to popular belief the air in NYC is actually quite clean. According to the American Lung Association's "State of the Air" report ( New York County, NY (i.e., Manhattan) has better air quality than Lancaster County, PA (Amish country) or Hunterdon County, NJ.

You are entitled to your opinion that horses don’t belong in the city, but you are not entitled to make stuff up to support that opinion. The bottom line is that the facts do not support her stance. As a matter of fact, the issue has nothing to do with the horses at all – it’s all about money and real estate:
