89 dogs were rescued from an animal hoarder in the Mojave Desert.
And somehow, all 89 of the animals have miraculously survived!
What's even stranger is the person who originally called the would be rescuers, Karma Rescue, was the hoarder herself!
The woman realized there was no possible way for her to take care of so many dogs, and luckily she came to her senses before it was too late.
Besides the fact that there was feces everywhere - the dogs were kept outside in the desert. A lot of them became blind from all the dust swirling around, and one dog in particular had lost almost all of its teeth because it had been chewing on anything it could find. The reason this dog was doing this? Because it was hungry!
These pups were VERY lucky to survive this audacious experience, but a lot of animals are hoarded who aren't so lucky.
That's because animal hoarding isn't illegal in a lot of states. Most people don't even like to classify hoarding as animal abuse even though hoarding animals is abuse. If you have too many animals - the chances are, a lot of those animals will be malnourished, and will not be taken care of properly!
Animal hoarding may be an illness, though. The way to tell if someone you know is an animal hoarder is to make sure that each of their animals has access to "food, water, sanitation and vet care".
If the animals don't - their owner may be a hoarder!!!
