A five-year-old boy, who survived the devastating tornado that destroyed Moore, Oklahoma last month, has been killed by a Bullmastiff dog.
The dog belonged to a friend of the boy's family. They had been staying at this friend's home in Arkansas after their house was destroyed in the tornado.
The dog ran off and was missing for two days before its body was found. A friend of the dog's owner had shot the dog dead.
Here's what the town's sheriff said:
"To me, it's heartbreaking. I've got a 5-year-old daughter. You can't imagine what this family and friends are going through right now."
Authorities say the deceased boy was, at the time of the attack, crying and upset - which may have caused the dog to feel threatened and attack.
It isn't clear whether or not the dog's owner will face any charges.
Our deepest condolences to the boy's family. This is so sad!
