Aww, that's so sad!
Chase was a bat-retrieving golden retriever for the Trenton Thunder, the New Jersey based Double-A minor league team for the New York Yankees. He just passed away at the ripe, old age of 13.
The cute doggy would run out to the batter's box and pick up bats with his mouth and bring them back to the dugout.
He'd even carry a basket full of chilled water bottles to the umpires!
He lived long enough to be thrown a retirement party, though. Fans brought their pets to the Trenton Thunder stadium and all celebrated Chase's illustrious career.
Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain, who once played in Trenton, said:
"Chase was there a long time. He put a lot of smiles on people's faces. You know it's going to be sad, but his lineage is carried on. You know it's something that people are going to miss, but it was fun to be around Chase."
We can imagine! Who wouldn't want a cutie pup hanging out in the dugout with them??
So sad that Chase is gone, but at least he had a great life and had the chance to be honored by thousands of fans before he passed!
