Ryan Gosling Fights For Pig Rights!

Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling cares a whole heck of a lot!

He's not only a super hot hunk… he's also a compassionate animal lover!

He loves animals so much, he wrote a newspaper article supporting the rights of pigs in his homeland of Canada!

Along with the Humane Society International/Canada and Farm Sanctuary, Ryan is singing the praises of a new draft code made by Canada’s National Farm Animal Care Council.

The draft code seeks to improve the conditions for Canada's 1,000,000 breeding pigs.

Ryan wrote:

"Within this draft code is a mandate that the pork industry stop relegating, for nearly their entire lives, mother pigs to tiny cages so small they can’t even turn around. I hope it will close this dangerous loophole by disallowing the pork industry from confining pigs for weeks at a time – something that I would never dream of doing to [my dog] George, and that no compassionate Canadian would ever do to any animal.

The bond I have with George is not unique. Like me, countless Canadians share their homes and lives with pets they consider to be part of the family. We know that they have individual personalities and quirks (George loves apples, for example) and that they feel both physical and mental pain."

Hopefully Canada will listen to Ryan, hanging on his every word, like we do!

Just picture those beautiful words falling out of his sexy lips… mmmm.

We expect Canada to bend to Ryan's will!!

Way to care about the piggies, Ryan!

Good for him. I avoid factory meat. If you only buy organic meat from free range animals you won't be supporting the horrible factory meat industry. It is more expensive, but it makes you eat less, which is also good.

It's only Canada that does this, no other county in the world follows.
…said every ignorant american reading this article.
Chickens fare far worse than pigs do.

Re: rosebud99 – You have to be careful, when they say free range they often lie, or use a little loop hole like the chickens will be out of their cages but stuck inside a barn and they tend to trample each other to death. A lot of major food companies own smaller companies that claim they're free range or organic and it's often not true. It's the same meat they sell normally just with the organic or free range label. You have to be very very careful into what meat you're buying and what brand it's coming from. The best thing to do is go to the farm and get the meat/eggs/milk yourself if you can. If not do some serious research on where this food is coming from and make sure it's legit.

Re: CarlaH – Carla that isn't even remotely true. You should take a look at how the US treats their animals. Actually the lack of treatment the animals get. Gestation cages are a very common practice and there's probably about 5% of livestock farmers in the states that don't use them with pigs. The US has far worse treatment of animals when it comes to livestock than most. I suggest you take a look at some videos on youtube and get yourself familiar with what's going on at the farm for your food.

Canada has far more regulations than the US does re: animal welfare. We may not be perfect and have a large amount of room for improvement, but it is ignorant to think that the US is "superior" to Canada on this matter.

We have to quite killing and eating animals. We have to evolve to a place that recognizes that theses animals are not necessary food for us - and more importantly should never be tortured or used for any entertainment that promotes abuse. Humans are not the end all. Far from it. We are lower animals.

We need to start respecting the fact that we share this planet with these awesome loving creatures - who are not here for our consumption and/or our amusement. Cannot believe we are still doing any of it.
