Look in the sky! It's a bird! No, it's a plane! Wait. It's a…dog???
Dan McManus, a hang gliding enthusiast from Utah, has separation anxiety, and because of that, he has a service dog who follows him everywhere and never leaves his side.
This dog's name is Shadow for a reason!
Mr. McManus recalls how the dog became frustrated when its owner would hang glide.
“He always liked to chase me. So I would be out here flying, and he would chase me and jump up at me and sometimes get my foot and hang on a little bit. He wanted to go along, and he didn’t really like to see me up there by myself. He needs to keep me safe, so he needed to go flying with me to keep me safe.”
So Mr. McManus did what anyone would do. He built a special dog harness for his best friend!!! And apparently the dog loves to fly!
Here's what the dog's owner said:
“He’ll put his little paws and arms out around me and hang onto my arm and get right with it. He shifts his weight. He looks down at the ground. He looks around at the other gliders in the air.”
Wow such a cool story!
Almost as cool as the video of these two flying together!
