Who came up with the Sharknado before it was a movie??
We would have never guessed it, but it wasn't a future blockbuster writer! It was a high school Latin teacher — and he created it as a symbol for his school's lacrosse team!
Georgetown Preparatory School in Bethesda, Md., had the raddest idea to ever hit the planet more than two years ago for the Catholic high school’s lacrosse team! They even had a logo (above)! The design went onto T-shirts, hats and koozies!
Here's what Mike Norton, who worked on the sharknado project with Georgetown Prep instructor Mike Kubik, had to say about it:
“The thought process was that sharks and tornadoes are two of the most feared things in the universe."
LOLz! That's HIGHlarious! Plus, it makes it even better that both of the creators were named Mike! We have no idea why that makes it funnier, but it does!
The cool thing about this story is that nobody from the school and nobody from SyFy is pissed over the rights! Norton even has the domain name "sharknado.com" but has no plans to make money off of it!
Ha! Best story EVER for those guys now!
