This is incredible!
The Kent County Juvenile Detention Center is all about helping kids transform themselves, instead of punishing them for their past!
They teach their teenagers to train and take care of dogs, as they prep the pups for adoption!
"During the dog's time at [Kent County Juvenile Detention Center], the youth work with the [Humane Society of West Michigan] Behavior staff and are responsible for feeding, grooming, training, socializing and caring for the dog. In addition to preparing the dog for adoption, the youth develop responsibility, empathy and compassion for all living things that they will take back to their communities."
We think this is totally inspirational, and we hope other juvenile programs follow suit.
It's better to teach society's children how to be better citizens, than to give up on them altogether!
Or at least that is how we feel!
